A-Grade vs B-Grade Yoyos: What’s the Difference?

If you’ve ever seen B-Grade yoyos listed on YoYoFactory Europe and wondered what the difference is, you’re not alone. This guide breaks it down clearly: what makes it different from A-Grade yoyos, means, B-Grades exist, and whether a B-Grade yoyo is the right choice for you.

Short answer? Both grades are real YoYoFactory yoyos, both are playable, but they’re not identical.

What is an A-Grade Yoyo?

A-Grade yoyos are our standard retail models. These are the yoyos that meet all of our strict quality standards and design specifications. It is the baseline level of quality offered at YoYoFactory.

What is a B-Grade Yoyo?

B-Grade yoyos are authentic YoYoFactory yoyos that didn’t pass final cosmetic inspection, but are still perfectly playable. They are discounted because of minor imperfections, not because they’re fake or previously used.

Common reasons a yoyo is graded B:

Slight color inconsistencies or anodizing marks
Small visual blemishes or finish variations
Off-center or missing laser engraving
Minor vibe (often unnoticeable during play)

⚠️ Important:

B-Grade yoyos are not second-hand yoyos.

Performance: Is There a Difference?

In most cases, performance is nearly identical.

Many B-Grade yoyos play exactly the same as A-Grade models
Any performance differences are usually minor
Most imperfections are cosmetic and don’t affect trick learning or enjoyment

That’s why many experienced players actively seek out B-Grades. Players know they’re getting high performance at a lower price.
