Unlike standard metal yoyos, the Nine Dragons features two independent spinning outer shells called Dragon Caps.

Hold the yoyo with both hands.
Place your palms flat against both sides (covering the dragon caps).
Push both halves firmly toward each other.
While applying pressure, twist in opposite directions.

The key is pushing inward first. This locks the spinning shells so you can actually grip the core. If you don’t push inward, the shells will just spin freely and the yoyo won’t open.
