Most Important Yoyo Trick You Need to Know

Bind is the most important yoyo trick you need to know. Why? Because when using unresponsive yoyos, you must always perform this trick to get the yoyo back to your hand.

Because the majority of yoyos used by players today are unresponsive, the yoyo cannot return to your hand with the classic method of simply tugging up. Once you learn how to Bind, in both directions, the yoyo trick possibilities for you will be endless!

How Does the Bind Work?

To do a Bind, you need an unresponsive yoyo. These typically have larger ball bearings and/or a wider gap in between the yoyo. Then, throw a Sleeper or a Breakaway.

The polyester yoyo string rubs against the silicone thin pads within the yoyo, adding tension in between the gap. Depending on the direction of the spin when the yoyo was thrown, the string should wrap around the ball bearing which forces the yoyo wind up and return to your hand.

Frontstyle Bind

Frontstyle Bind is used when you throw a Sleeper in front of you. This will most likely be the first time you learn.

Sidestyle Bind

Sidestyle Bind is the most useful bind to know if you perform Breakaway and Trapeze. The majority of yoyo tricks are performed from a Breakaway. Therefore, this is the most common style of Bind.
