Creating yoyo combos is quintessential for anyone interested in about competing in yoyo contests. Combining tricks not only adds complexity but also showcases your flow and creativity. While some combos may seem complicated at first, it’s important to remember that a combo can often be made using tricks you already know! Let’s break down an easy yoyo trick combo for intermediate players yet that combines elements from four different yoyo tricks.
What You’ll Need:
Unresponsive Yoyo
This combo works best with an unresponsive yoyo, as it allows for longer spin time to combine all of the four tricks together. While other yoyos can work, unresponsive yoyos provide the control you’ll need for tricks like these. The yoyo we used is Shutter Wide Angle, however, any unresponsive yoyo will work.
Yoyo Used: Shutter Wide Angle – Orange Teal
Intermediate Skill Level
This combo is aimed at players who have mastered the basics and have learned the trick called Bind. If you’re unfamiliar with any of these four tricks, you can learn each one individually using the Skill Addicts app! The app has detailed step-by-step tutorials in the “Custom Tricks” section. You can even try it for free here!
Easy Yoyo Trick Combo Breakdown:
This combo combines parts of four yoyo tricks. Let’s break down each part:
- Trap Door is an easy trick that starts from a Double or Nothing. You’ll make a triangle by spreading your throw hand index finger and thumb. Instead of the yoyo going through the “trap door”, the yoyo will swing onto the farthest strings away from you.
- From here, you’ll go into the trick called Branding. This creates a “slack” type of trick and has been encorporated into many Sidestyle Fast combos.
- Immediately go into a part of McBride’s Rollercoaster. This trick consists of Double or Nothings and unraveling to the other side.
- Finish your combo with the end part of Cold Fusion. The end part of this trick is smooth and a satisfying finish to the combo. Unravel and swing out of the string, land in a Trapeze and then Bind!
