What is Bind?
Bind is a yoyo trick used on unresponsive yoyos. The trick involves wrapping the yoyo string around the gap, creating friction in-between, which causes the yoyo to return back to the hand.
Unresponsive yoyos allows players to do more advanced and complex string tricks. As a result, the yoyo will not unexpectedly snap back.
Why is it the Most Important Yoyo Trick?
Bind is the most efficient way to return the yoyo back to the hand. Without knowing this yoyo trick, progressing to more advanced yoyo tricks will be difficult. If an unresponsive yoyo is used without knowing how to bind, the yoyo must be wound up manually each time. This limits the ability to level up to more advanced yoyo tricks later on.
Here are the two most common binds that every yoyo player must know:
Frontstyle
This is ideal for frontstyle yoyo tricks such as Barrel Rolls, Atom Smasher, Mach 5, and Pop n Fresh.
Sidestyle
This is the most commonly used bind since the majority of yoyo tricks are performed from here.
