What Is Response Pad for?
Response pads add right amount of friction between yoyo and a string. They also make sure the yoyo spins and returns properly.
For the yoyo to spin and return to the hand, a certain friction is needed, which is done with response pads. Without the pads, the string would just unwind from the yoyo and the yoyo would not spin or return back to the hand.
- If the pads don’t work properly, the yoyo not only returns worse, it also would not spin properly when you throw it.
When To Replace Yoyo Response Pads?
Over time, response pads gradually wear down usually after a few months of play. Pads may appear lower in appearance or are no longer aligned properly.
You will know it’s time to replace the pads when the yoyo’s performance changes: it spins for a shorter time on the same throw and becomes less responsive to binds.
How To Replace Yoyo Response Pads?
The pad works similarly to a sticker. Remove the paper part to expose the glue side and then stick it to the yoyo wall. Before installing a new pad, be sure to properly remove the old pad, including the old glue.
